Halloween is in the air!

Halloween....one of my favorite holidays EVER. If you are a kid or an adult Halloween is so much fun. The decorations, the candy, the weather, the parties, dressing up....its all fun times! I can remember as a kid going trick-or-treating with my brother like it was yesterday. Decorating Halloween cookies is the next best thing to trick-or-treating ;) Made a colorful fun platter of Halloween madness. Love all the different designs.
And Halloween would not be Halloween with out some pumpkins sportin their staches.....
Happy Halloween everyone. Be safe and have fun out there....

GO BO!

I am here to share a story. A story how people can come together. Come together for the love of one another. People from all over the world reaching out to help. Putting their hearts out there to help out a boy named BO. BO Johnson, the 13 year old boy lost his battle with leukemia on Friday Sept 28th. BO has moved on to a brighter side and leaves a community full of love, kindness and warmth for one another. BO's words....
“Love each other, help each other, have your neighbor's back. If you see someone in need ...even a stranger...reach out and help. This world can be a better place if we care and help each other.”

Door County, Wisconsin is graced with the color orange. Friends, families and strangers coming together with happy hearts and arms wide open. Coming together in honor of BO and what he stood for.

I am happy to be a part of such an amazing bake sale that will be taking place in Fall Fest, Sister Bay, WI October 12 - 14, 2012. Many cookie artist from all over the world are donating cookies to raise funds for GO BO! Thank you Jill for your help in organizing such a wonderful event. I know it will be a huge success.

Play with your Food!

I recently did a very fun project with some fellow cookie friends. Play with your Food! Picking a game and making it edible. Fun right? I think so. I picked Hungry Hungry Hippos. I used to play that game til my hand hurt when I was a kid haha.  Okay on to the project....

Started off baking the base and the sides. Then flooding the top of the base and both sides of the sides.
Then using royal icing to "glue" the sides down to the base. I also flooded the tops to hide the cookie part.
Flooding both sides of the Hippo cookies. Attaching and holding them into place with royal icing added to the 3D effect I wanted to achieve.
I used white Sixlets candies for the balls. They were perfect! I got a 1 lb bag online and they were so yummy I think they only lasted about a week lol.
Every time I see these cookies I have the Hungry Hungry Hippo theme song in my head haha. Don't go looking for it because it is the kind of catchy song that will be stuck in your head all day!

Wanna see more????

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th everyone. I went for a morning hike and now relaxing the rest of the day & night away. Always a good way to spend the day IMO. Made some fun red, white & blue cookies since I was in the festive mood lol. Had some left over cookies...(I always have leftovers HA) and decided to do some wet-on-wet. They are so fun because you can really mess up but cannot tell ;)

These red, white & blue meringue swirls were inspired form Martha Stewart LIVING magazine May 2012 issue. On the cover are some really neat meringue swirls in yellow & orange. I have never tasted or made these cookies so I figured why not get patriotic on some meringues and give it a try. They are super easy to make and SUPER yummy!!!

Friends ♥

I recently made some cookies for some special people. These kind of cookies are always the most meaningful & enjoyable to make. A very good friend of mine got married and I made the wedding favors. Simple monogram cookies but they came out beautiful. I asked her what other color she wanted besides white & she picked green. I used my airbrush on the edges to give it an added nice touch. Damn I love my airbrush. I am so happy I purchased one. She also asked me to make a tiger & puma cookie for her husband. I would guess he is the tiger & she is the puma lol. They seem to have more creative names for one another than babe & honey I would say ;)
These cookies were for a buddy of mine that competes in bodybuilding. He is a true champ and an inspiration to so many! These are cookies from the heart ♥
