Henna Inspired

I love to do intricate designs. Where I can sit down and just pay attention to detail and then the finished product blows my mind away. Ive seen heena inspired cookies and thought I would take a crack at it. My problem was figuring out how to get royal icing out of a teeny tiny tip. I remember reading somewhere online to take your royal icing and strain it through a nylon...a clean one of course haha! That way any hard pieces of meringue powder will stay in the nylon. I tried it and WOW....no clogged tip. I was impressed. I wish I would of used this method before because I cant tell you how many frusterating times my tip would clog and I would have to take it apart, clean and then a few minutes later clogging again. But then again...gotta learn the hard way sometimes lol.

Im so thrilled with the way these cookies came out. All the hours spent on these and the back ache from sitting in the chair was all worth it. ;)

  1. These cookies are gorgeous! I am so impressed. I have tried to make Mehndi design cookies - I made me family eat them before anyone would notice they existed. That bad ;-) What size tip did you use? I used Wilton 1 and it was still too big I think. Again, just love them!

  3. beautiful! I found your link through lilaloa. Did you use a 0 tip on these? ANd I'm curious what consistency you made your icing? I have a 0 tip I've tried using, but it seems my icing is either too thick and wont come out of the top (or if it comes out, curls a ton) or is too thin and doesnt hold shape. I'd love to learn what worked for you cause these are awesome!

    1. Yes a tip 0. The consistency I would say is in the middle of thick and 20 sec. It falls off the spatula very slowly but not runny. Hope that makes sense. I have problems with curling as well and I am not sure why. When it does curl I will hold the tip closer to the cookie. I noticed if I have the tip up far from the cookie it curls more. I'm still learning :)
